Are you choosing Rogue as your class?

just a FYI, I don't know if you chose Eladrin for sure yet, but if you're still deciding, humans are basic, but they're good. In SW RPing, I pretty much always use human because of their versatility. They don't get any ability bonuses, but they get no penalities (tho penalities are not in 4E) but also get an extra feat/ bonus skill points. I don't know how much of this applies to 4E, but I just wanted to let you know if you weren't sure yet. I just hope I'm not confusing you more...

Not really, drakmor. I think I'll still go with Eladrin, and rogue, but thanks for speaking up! I'm at the point where I want to stop thinking and just pick something and get on with it! WHAT'S NEXT, TAYLOR? I'm ready for more confusion!

Alright- more confusion coming at you. Next off is abilities. These are your charactersbasic traits- the statistics that govern most everything about your character. Imagine if you were making a scarecrow this would be the frame. Every character has 6 abilities. Strength- Physical, muscles, power, etc. Dexterity- Speed, reaction, initiative, etc. Endurance- Resistance to illness, pain, and fatigue, etc. Intelligence- Learning ability, mental strength, etc. Wisdom- perception, understanding, noticing, etc. Charisma- persuasion, intimidation, reading people, etc. When first given these scores you usually have a number between 3 and 18. Higher is better, while lower is weaker. You can go below 3 or above 18 but that is unusual. For this game- you are given 6 numbers and you must distribute them to each of your 6 abilities. 16, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10. Each number must be used once and only once for each ability. For example- you could go. Strength- 14 Dexterity- 11 Endurance- 16 Intelligence- 13 Wisdom- 12 Charisma- 10 Ta da! Also- AFTER you have distributed the numbers and because you are an eladrin you will recieve +2 to intelligence, and dexterity.

OKAY, I actually get that. But before I decide, can you tell me what else I'll have to do? For my character, what do I have to "decide," like these abilities, and what do I get to pick freely? Can you give me a rundown?

Sure, no problem.
You'll have some physical details- Height, age, etc.
Skills- which are just that. Actions you have been trained in, such as Acrobatics, or History.
Feats- These are like special augments. They grant you a special boost to your character or something of that sort.
Powers- These are your combat abilities.
Equipment- The stuff that you're carrying.
and your background, and personality.
Then there's a few other tweaks that come from those things.

Now, which of that do I decide for myself, and which do you decide for me?
EDIT: OH MAN I DIDN'T KNOW DRAKMOR WAS ELADRIN TOO! I WASN'T REALLY PAYING ATTENTION TO THAT BOARD, BUT NOW I AM AND I SEE THAT HE IS. IS THAT A BIG PROBLEM? DO YOU MIND, DRAKMOR? I MIGHT CHANGE NOW. AHHHH.

Okay, I looked over the classes and races again. I'm liking half-elf...does that fit with rogue? What fits with half-elf well? What does a half-elf look like? SORRY, I'M TOTALLY CHANGING EVERYTHING UP.

Alright- a couple things.
Faith- There are deities in this game, and you do get to choose who you worship. However, it is not a real important choice unless you are a Paladin or Cleric (Which Josh is) You will get to choose one however, and each has different principles so really it just says a little something about your character.
Race- Pfft- it's no problem about being Eladrin. The entire party could be Eladrin for all I care, and if you think about it- a Tiefling hanging with two Eladrin could support some...interesting conversation. ( ;
You will get to choose all of those. I don't choose anything for you- I'm just setting everything up, doing the math because your choice will affect otehr things in the background.

Hm...I don't know. I'm taking one step back here and withdrawing my choice as both eladrin and rogue.
TELL ME MORE ABOUT HALF-ELF. What do they look like? What classes go best with them?
Edit; And what's interesting about two eladrin and a tiefling hanging out together?
