[BEGINNING OF THE JOURNEY]
{BUT BEFORE WE BEGIN: A MESSAGE FROM OUR FRIENDLY BAD GUY}
Hurnam Curr sat on his hardback throne, feeling it's hardness. The bastard rebels had gone too far this time. They intercepted one of his SWAT's, and destroyed every single member. But now he knew that he could defeat the rebellion. He held in his hands the member that he knew would be sorely missed. The top of the sheet read "Raine Song: WANTED! Known member of the rebellion! If seen contact the police AT ONCE!" He smiled. From undercover agents he learned what had really been going on in the rebellion. The rebellion was split into two parts: they all following one leader, but most of the general members followed miss Raine.
Once Song was out of the way, the rebellion would be helpless. But what of her companions? He had two other sheets in his hands. One read: "Gerand Hallow: WANTED! Known member of the rebellion! Known murderer! Traitor to the police! Murder of an unarmed SWAT member! Known informant to RAINE SONG! If seen contact police AT ONCE!"
The last sheet worried him slightly. They had had Rafael once before, and they screwed up the job. He had escaped. Him and his weapon. The sheet read: "Rafael: #2 WANTED! Too many crimes to list! Known informant to RAINE SONG! If seen contact police AT ONCE! DO NO APPROACH!!" It was short, but sweet.
He would get all three if it killed him. He would have them begging for mercy from torture, and he would refuse to stop until they told him everything. And if it was wrong he would have great pleasure in upping their pain. He would have those three betray the rebellion, and it would be the greatest pleasure that he'd ever had. He would do it, and he would do it soon.
He smiled, and contemplated what he would do to them. He could almost feel their flesh in his fingernails, him ripping the flesh apart....
{MESSAGE CONCLUDED. HAVE A NICE DAY!}

River stared out into the vast, endless forest that seemed to welcome him with every gust of wind. His eyes darkened and his hair gently swished around his face in the breeze. He was ready. Ready to start this. A loud high pitched cackling laughter erupted abruptly, and he quickly looked around, alarmed. Raine strode towards him, her arms folded, looking past him. She Her eyes were alive as she snickered loudly, not even seeming to notice either of them. River’s eyes narrowed again and as she passed he closed his eyes and breathed deeply. I’m traveling with a psychotic idiot. He said indifferently to himself. Gerand noticed her to and said, “Ready to leave?” River hoisted the backpack at his feet over one shoulder, and the group shifted off from the small storage hut- the last trace of civilization for miles.
The first layer of the forest was still quite clear. With tall pine trees and a dusty floor, the surroundings hushed all outside noises, leaving only the chirp of birds, the gust of high winds, and the soft trample of their footsteps. They traveled for hours in what seemed like a circle and the air was getting colder. The sun was falling fast in the sky and River’s temper fell with it, “How long do you expect us to follow you blindly?” He snarled in the nastiest voice he could muster towards Raine. (ooc; river didn’t mean to say ‘us’ but you’ll find he starts to do that and consider himself one of the group)
(ooc; this is a good opportunity for a conversation/argument since we really need to get them acquainted. Try and keep the conversation going!)

Ooc; Hey Josh, that wanted sign by the bad guy did nottt even include half of the stuff Raine has donee. She’s killed countless government people, escaped a government retainment (Ugh, wtf? Microsoft says that isn’t a word but it issss!) center, and lots of other stuff… But you’ll learn all of this later. ;]
Raine scuffed her giggles and they were out, like a small flame submersed in water. She felt foolish for laughing; she didn’t even know why she was laughing. What Nova said obviously wasn’t funny. But now the petty girl was behind them all and Raine would most likely not see her again. She breathed relief through her veins, annoyed.
And then they were walking, all three of them. It was silent and Raine enjoyed it. But River had to open his mouth and ruin that.
“How long do you expect us to follow you blindly?”
Raine turned to him, a scowl in her eyes. The fading light threw shadows across her face and made her face look longer and meaner. “Possibly forever. Got a problem with it?” Raine sneered, her eyes flashing.
ooc; Heyyy, 300th post. =3

Waves of white hot anger crashed inside him as he strode up beside her, a deliberate swagger in his step, “Yeah. I do have a problem with that.” His eyes narrowed as a vicious glare poured onto her, heat radiating from his anger. He stepped boldly in front of her, ending her stride. He couldn’t control his rising temper, he hated her, couldn’t stand her-

Walking...it felt so good. Just being away from the last snatches of civilization felt great. He couldn't believe how nice it felt, just walking. But it couldn't stay like that. River had to open his big mouth.
“How long do you expect us to follow you blindly?”
River was going to make a fool out of himself again...
“Possibly forever. Got a problem with it?”
Raine was still Raine, even out in the wilderness.
“Yeah. I do have a problem with that.”
River stepped toward Raine. Gerand swore under his breath and leapt forward, grabbing River's arm before it could do anything he would later regret. The situation he suddenly found himself in was precarious, between two very angry people.
He would have to act peacemaker here, although he felt River had something coming his way. "Guys! This looks like a good place to stop. River, could you find some water? Raine, help me set up the tent."
Not like they would listen to him, but maybe he had avoided a conflict again.

Ooc; JOSH, I love this line: “Raine was still Raine, even out in the wilderness.” Haha!
I also like how you said that River “had something coming his way.” RAINE WILL GIVE HIM THE SOMETHING HIS WAY. Wow, does that make sense?
IC: Raine had already stopped walking. She met River’s glare full on, not very successfully with her size to her disadvantage. But she wasn’t about to let that get in her way.
“Yeah. I do have a problem with that.” He said…
Raine opened her mouth to tell River just how much she cared that he had a problem with it, but Gerand stepped in.
"Guys! This looks like a good place to stop. River, could you find some water? Raine, help me set up the tent."
She turned to glare at Gerand for a second, contemplating whether to listen to his command or not. In the end her spite won out and she dropped the bag she was carrying and walked a few feet away only to sit cross-legged on the ground. “Sorry, but I'm not really… Maybe I’ll help out later, but probably not. I have better things to do.” Rummaging in her pocket, she pulled out a map. She laid it in front of her, still folded, and stared at it. She rested her elbow on her knee and her on her chin. Her eyes were narrowed, her brow furrowed with thought. Raine remained frozen in that pose, possibly trying to burn a hole in the map with her eyes.
Certain physical definitions jumped out at her from the map. A mountain or two, a long trailing river that wound its way through the entire portion of the map that she could see, but mostly desert, desert land. With no end of any kind in sight.
She went back to trying to burn a whole in the map.
OOC; I love that. “I have better things to do.” –stares at closed map- LOL!
Btw guys, DO NOT END this scene. I mean, you can have it be dark and blah-dee-blah, but don’t have it be morning.
Raine still has some more talking to do with River. ;]

Waves of white hot anger crashed inside him as he strode up beside her, a deliberate swagger in his step, “Yeah. I do have a problem with that.” His eyes narrowed as a vicious glare poured onto her, heat radiating from his stare. He stepped boldly in front of her, ending her stride. He couldn’t control his rising temper, he hated her, couldn’t stand her- River suddenly felt a sharp grip on his wrist as Gerand grabbed his arm from out of nowhere. River quickly ripped it away, not even looking at him, but continued to glare at Raine. “Guys! This looks like a good place to stop. River, could you find some water? Raine, help me set up the tent.” River’s eyes narrowed as Raine turned and walked off. Gerand, still by his side said nothing, and neither did River as he turned, and left into the protective coverage of the thick forest trees.
With only a few steps from the campsite, he was gone; lost in the forest’s thickness and empty hollow sounds. He could hear nothing here of the camp, and nothing of the city. And for a short moment, River heard nothing inside himself. He felt the cold wind wrap around him and calm him completely. It washed away thoughts and emotions like cold water; submerging him into emptiness. His stride slowed as he came to a complete stop and looked at the scenery around him. Wide and tall pine trees stood scattered before him in every direction. Their long bushy needles fell to the forest floor like long draping dresses, covering his tracks in the dry dirt. He looked up. Other tall tree branches reached out to each other against the pale blue sky, holding the air of the forest down, concealing it in a dome. River looked down and the gears in his mind started to turn again slowly. He sat down on a small boulder, getting his feet off of the ground, and taking his gun off his back, setting it down beside him. “What am I doing here?” He thought. He reached up a hand and pushed black hair out of his face. Looking down he saw his injured hand, still tainted; bruised. It would take some time to heal. His boots were dirty and stomach long empty. He let out a sigh. Here he was out in the middle of nowhere… With no one but an attempting peacemaker and smart mouth brat. Set on a mission to turn the side of the war in the Rebellion’s favor. … He wasn’t for the Rebellion, so why was he here? “To save your life,” he reminded himself. With each passing day he hide out in the city, there was rising possibility of someone recognizing him- the government finding him- his recapture. River cringed. That could not happen. He had been on the run, safe from Government’s eyes for two years now. Two years, and no one’s found him. Two years he’s been free from torture. On that achievement alone, River prided himself. But selling his life to the Rebellion? This couldn’t go on. He had to stop it. “As soon as we reach the destination, I’m gone.” He said to himself. River looked back towards the direction of camp, thinking what the other two are doing now. “Raine has the map,” he stated silently, “Gerand doesn’t know where we’re headed either.” I bet she doesn’t even know, he sulked… And with the flicker of resentment blooming, he pushed the purple hair out of his mind quickly, silencing his mind once more. His body received a greeting chill from the wind. The air sent s shiver, but he was used to the cold. Then suddenly River came aware of a different coldness, pressed up against his bare skin. He put a hand down the front of his shirt and retrieved the icy object from a string around his neck. The rusted brass key looked small in his hand. He looked at it… just staring. It seemed that all of his thoughts, doubts, and worries lay held in that small, old key. Did he want to go back? No. He was here. Because he’s moving on. And then he put it away, back under his shirt, hidden- secret- gone.
River pulled down the last thick branch of the tree and stepped into the flattened camp site. (ooc; flattened, as in there aren’t as many trees there) Raine sat idly on the ground staring at the map as though trying with all her might to make it implode and Gerand stood his back to River, fumbling with the airy cloth of the tent. Setting down his gun, he silently walked over and aided Gerand in trying to make sense of the three long poles and large brown sheet. The tent seemed to take much longer than expected but after many confused looks and resetting the poles in three different places in the ground, the tent was up and ready for its three sleepers, looking sturdy and only blowing slightly in the wind. By that time the sun was nearly down, and River turned his attention to warmth and food. Looking upwards towards the outstretched branches of the forest he said quietly, “I’ll be right back…”
River went down along the path he had taken before, remembering a dead tree branch that had been hanging from the broken stump of a tree. He grabbed hold of large branch and ripped the last of its ties to the dying tree. It fell down with a muffled crack to the forest floor as he got a good grip on it and dragged it back to camp. The white tree branch was long, wide, and somewhat heavy. But River dragged it steadily. Pushing his way through low pine needle branches, he dropped it in the center of their camp and broke it into smaller pieces, arranging them in a pile to be burned.
Staring at the dry dead wood, he took the flame throwing from his pocket and ignited it with an explosive hiss. Flame climbed up the cold air, grasping, greedily for its oxygen. The freedom here was incredible… No one was here. They were thousands of miles from any civilizations that had ever brought him pain, or betrayal. He could light a fire and no one see the smoke. He could scream, and no one hear him. He could look, and no one would be staring at him. River inhaled the intoxicated air, looked up, and smiled at the layers of smoke billowing through the open air.

ooc; Hey guys, let's pretend Gerand is not around the fire right now, kayskays?
ic:The moon shone. Brightly, but not quite bright enough to see the distinctions of the map anymore. Raine picked it up roughly and stuffed it away. It's not like she was actually concentrating on the map anyway. She walked over to the fire, brushing locks of hair back from her face.
River was standing by the fire. Raine walked up to stand around it, rubbing her bare arms in the chill of the night. He didn't look at her, and she didn't look at him. Raine stared blindly into the flame, watching it fight its way upwards looking for more to consume. It reminded her of power, corrupting a person. Once it was lit- it was there...and it just got bigger and stronger, looking for anything it could control and take over, carving a path of destruction through the carefully formed innocent lives and leaving everything as ash.
She blinked, looking up. She could see River across the flames. The flame filled her with anger. Raine had unsolved issues with this 'River.' "You." She hissed. "Just so you know, I'll be calling you River from now on. Even though it's obviously not your real name." She turned away, taking a few steps before pausing and planting her feet again. "...Fair warning....." She turned herself around and met him in the eye. "Just because you're traveling with me, for however long that may be, and feel free to leave anytime... that doesn't mean I owe you any sort of loyalty, or have any means to be nice to you. You're bottom of the pack here, kid. A stranger. And as soon as you decide to turn your back and walk away, I can turn around and kill you if I so need to."
Her hair whipped around her, framing her face with a crown of long spikes. Her eyes were dark to begin with and currently heavily shadowed but they were still easily seen with the glow the fire cast. She was short, but her shadow stretched out and covered the whole campsite. She spun again, and finally left River's presence for good.

River blankly ignored Raine as she pronounced her annoyance at his name. It wasn’t long before she finished and then stalked away. Looking around he snuffed the blazing flames of the fire into smoldering coals with a bucket of water that had been collected earlier. The hissing of the dying fire proudly filled the quiet as River walked around the camp site, taking in the look of the forest at night… The sun had fallen like a meteor crashing down only to be replaced by the eerie, unblinking eye of the moon. The darkness River now experienced surprised him, fore there was more darkness here than the city streets could ever muster. It was remarkable how black and weighed down the very air looked. It was as if each molecule was bound to this darkness, determined to hide the three humans from all else, casting them into hidden shadow- a protection only flawlessly given through nature, itself. Leaving the forest to its slumber, he pulled back the draping sheet of the tent and entered in, where Raine was already settled. Pulling off his shirt he looked down at the three thin blankets on the floor, thinking how much he’s rather sleep outside, alone.
ooc; and the night scene begins!

Gerand marveled at the fact that both River and Raine separated when asked. They had avoided conflict once again. He moved over and pulled out the tent from his pack. Raine muttered something about having better things to do, and Gerand was left alone. He stared at the tent, realizing he had no idea what he was supposed to do. 'd*mn,' he thought. 'This is interesting...' He had been raised in the city, and with the death of his father at a still relatively young age, he had never gone camping, and had no idea what he was doing. He knew survival skills, but never had to practice them out of a city.
Awhile later he still hadn't gotten it, River arrived back in the camp, and he set to work helping Gerand with the tent. It took some time, but eventually they got it up. Gerand sat down and panted slightly. This wasn't something he wanted to do every day, but he would be the one stuck doing it if River and Raine kept being at each other's throats 24/7.
River disappeared, and came back with branches from a tree. He pulled out a flamethrower that he had earlier and started a fire. Gerand breathed in as the smoke reached him. It felt good, not like breathing in a smoker's lungs, but fresh air. (OOC: Okay?)
He went over to his pack, and pulled out his hard rations. 'Yum,' he thought. "Did you find a stream?" he asked River (OOC: LOL). River gave instructions on how to find the river (OOC: Sorry about the godminding, I had no other way to do this).
Taking his rations, Gerand left the camp and did some scouting. They actually were in the perfect place to camp. There was no way the anyone could sneak up on them. There were trees surrounding the site, and any movement would be sensed right away. There was uneven ground to one side of the camp, no one could walk easily there at night. On the other side of the camp was the river, making sure no one came from that side. The third side Gerand could find no easy way through the trees. Anyone could only come from that one side easily.
At the stream Gerand splashed water on his face after he ate. The water was cold, but refreshing. It was only self dignity that stopped his from wading in and washing. There would be other times to do this.
He made his way back to the camp as it got dark. Before he arrived in camp he looked in and saw that, without him there, the other two were fighting again. The only thing that Gerand caught was "kill you if I so need to" and Raine turned and left to the tent (OOC: I presume? Correct me if I'm wrong).
River put out the fire, and Gerand stepped into the campsite. "I'll take first watch. Go and sleep. I don't care if you don't want to or not, but I'm waking you at midnight for your turn." Whatever response the River would have made Gerand ignored. He found a comfortable spot and turned to watch the one weak spot in the camp.
The night grew pitch black. All of a sudden he heard the snap of a branch. It wasn't an animal step. A whole branch had been snapped. It was something human sized. He stood up, and drew an amra. As he walked out, a dark shape leaped at him. His reflexes moved, but too quickly for his brain to react fully. His shot missed, and the figure reached him. Gerand cried out as his leg was forced into an akward position. He attempted to aim the amra at the figure, but the figure disarmed him with a flick of the hand into his wrist. The figure moved again, and physics took over. The figures weight was too much resistance to the middle of his leg. The bone snapped, and Gerand cried out fully. ((FULL GODMIND, PLEASE FORGIVE)) Raine came out of the tent, and saw his position. A gunshot sounded, and Raine fell. Behind her stood River. Raine was bleeding, River had shot her. Gerand was helpless. "The government wants to see you, bastard." The voice was medium, but threatening.
Gerand awoke with a start. He was sitting against the tree, and his bones were aching, but none were broken. What a nightmare! He just hoped it would never become a reality.
When midnight came he went into the tent, and shook River awake. "It's your turn to watch. Wake Raine at four AM." Not caring about River's response, he almost stumbled over Raine, but made it to his sleeping bag without any problems. He climbed in, and was instantly asleep.
