Raine didn’t even look at Fel, or his offered hand.
“Honestly, Gerand, how blind can you be?” Raine said darkly, crossing her arms and glowering up at him. “It doesn’t matter if the owners have closed it already, it’s actually better if they have. Because Fel here has the-“ Just then a gun went off, and a bullet whizzed through the very limited space Gerand and Raine had between them. Raine jumped back, and then she turned fast to look in the direction of where the gun had been fired, but it was only blackness.
Raine exploded into action. She jumped up, grabbing the key in Fel’s hand and then sprinted in the direction of the only Pizza Pizza in town. “Come on!” she shouted, moving at a very fast pace, even for her small size.

Fel nodded at Gerand and gave a small wink towards Raine.
"Not to worry, dear man-"
“Honestly, Gerand, how blind can you be? It doesn’t matter if the owners have closed it already, it’s actually better if they have. Because Fel here has the-“
"Cows!" he screamed as if he were a little girl, dashing after Raine, almost surpassing her speed AND Pizza Pizza with his own frightened dash.
"Let us go~!" he ran into the Pizza Pizza door before it happened to be unlocked. When it was and the decor was in sight, you could see red and yellow checkers covering everything- the wide arrangement of seating and the ordering station, and doors to the kitchen and bathrooms. Fel ran screaming back into the kitchen, were he proceeded to run into another door labeled "BASEMENT".

Gerand's mouth began to form a retort but was cut off by the sound of a gun. A bullet whizzed past his head. Nothing was where the bullet came from except darkness, not a suprise. What suprised him was that the cop had missed him and Raine. He had had all day to aim, but still ended up missing.
Raine grabbed the key from Fel and took off running. Garand's inclination was to follow her, but then he remembered the thing in his pocket. 'Use in emergencies only,' the note had said. This was considered an emergency. He had 2 seconds.
Quickly he shoved Fel to follow Raine. He then grabbed the thing in his pocket, grabbed what he hoped would be a trigger and pointed what was hopefully the end toward the darkness. He squeezed, sending out a prayer.
There was no recoil or flash, but Gerand knew something had happened. Someone in the darkness cried out in pain. Gerand had heard enough. Hoping there was only one cop he turned and followed Raine and hopefully Fel, running as fast as he could.

------Continued from jckwik--------
Unfortunently, there wasn't just one cop.
------In the palace building throneroom------
Hurnam Curr sat in his hardback throne. A man in a uniform was kneeling on the ground before him. "Let me get this straight," he said. "The rebels have better technology than us? That's hard to believe. I mean we are the government after all, and they are a bunch of bastards who seem to have a miracle up there sleeve. There must only be one of these things. A gun that doesn't have any sound must not be a gun at all."
The man on the ground whimpered. "What's that?" asked Hurnam.
"I said that they have at least two, and it doesn't seem to use any ammo."
"Then it runs on power, and that power will eventually run out," concluded Hurnam. "You're dismissed, but don't forget. I want that power, get it from the bastard rebels."
The man bowed while still on the ground, then got up, bowed again, and walked very quickly out the door. Outside he gave some orders to the police guards outside the door. "I want the streets flooded with police. Anyone outside after curfew is to be shot, no questions asked until later. If anyone resists capture them and bring them in for interrogation."
The police guard nodded. No longer would the rebels have free reign in the streets. The police were coming.

Raine dashed into the basement after Fel. She held open the door for Gerand, and then slammed it shut behind him. She turned the lock quickly, jumping down the flight of stairs and landing at the bottom.
She wasn’t even out of breath, pushing forward and desperately trying to gather everyone. “Alright guys, we’ve got to hurry.” Raine said, pulling out the small “gun” like object that she had had out before. She tossed it to Gerand and then pulled out another, keeping it herself. “D*mn..” she muttered, unable to find another. She pushed the “gun” lightly into her pocket, and turned to the boxes in the room.
“Where…is that box?” Raine mumbled, wading in the boxes, many of the stacks towering over her head. She disappeared completely for a second, re-appearing on the other side of the room with 6 more of the “guns” in her hands. “Here.” She said, tossing two more to Gerand. She kept 2 with herself, so she had three total, and gave the other two to Fel. “Be careful…” she warned him. “Don’t shoot it until we tell you you can.” She said, smiling a bit at him.
She turned back to face Gerand, making a sort of triangle between the three of them. “These” Raine said, holding up the one “gun” she had kept out, the other two mysteriously hidden away. “Are called amras. They are not guns, they are a totally new kind of weapon. They don’t need bullets, and they are completely silent. But they are still… prototypes. They don’t last long, that’s why we each have three.” She glanced at Fel, who only had two. “Eh, most of us at least.” She said, smiling and looking back at Gerand.
“Anyway, I was watching you before, Gerand, because I’ve been assigned as your partner.” She said, smirking at him. “Or rather, you’ve been assigned as mine.”

"Why couldn't I have been assigned to you?" Fel whined. "I wanna be your partner!" he said, throwing a bit of a hissy fit.
"And what does this do if I shoot it without you telling me?" he asked, aiming the gun towards some of the boxes of the restraunt and shooting randomly.

"Amras? Intersting. Must be high-tech. No recoil or sound whatsoever. The assassins weapon of choice."
He listened to Raine's comment about being partners. Inwardly he groaned, 'great. Just great.' "That explains why you knew my name. Now about being partners here. Who says I want to be your partner? I just got a little information about the rebels and unfortunately I couldn't keep my nose out. I don't want to be in this rebellion! I just wanted to stay neutral, comply with the government, but only to a point."
He turned away from her. "I don't want this! Why me?" he was almost whining. He fell to his knees at the wall, ignoring Fel's fit and shooting rage. "I don't want this," he murmured, and memory overcame him.
------------------------------
He was 14, and was in his old house...in his room. He groaned. Not this.
He was lying on his bed when there were sounds of commotion downstairs and the sound of a gunshot. He was still young and hadn't gone wild yet, so there was thing about the shot that was very very frightening to him. He remembered how he had raced downstairs to find his father arguing with someone in a uniform in the doorway. His mother saw him and ushered him out of the room, reassuring him it was alright.
She had been wrong...all wrong. The arguing grew more violent and his father had been shot. The reason was for resisting arrest because he refused to join the army. It angered him. His father shouldn't have been shot for that. Tears began to cloud his eyes as he remembered kneeling next to his fathers body, his eyes cold and lifeless, and yet they were angry.
Their anger passed to him. He became violent around the house, and eventually he ran away.
Gerand couldn't stand it any longer, but the memories continued.
He'd been approached by the army to join because he was now the man of the house. He had no choice but to, he didn't want to die like his father. He was press ganged into the army, and sent away to the front lines of a war.
It was his first battle. A 14 year old with a gun fighting on the front lines of a war that only was happening because of his kings greediness. He was shot in the side, and left to die.
It was because the other sides niceness that he survived. He was found and made a full recovery, although he was in prison, a POW. Eventually he was ransomed, and went back to his country, a now broken 16 year old man.
------------------------------------
That was last time he couldn't keep his nose out and was press ganged. This wouldn't happen again. He wouldn't die because of some hopeless rebel band. He wouldn't.

"Wheee~!" Fel cried when he shot the gun. He fell back onto his haunches purpousely and giggled to himself.
"Hey Gerand, don't worry about her. She's a lady~ being partnered with her will be fun! Unless... you don't swing that way. In which case I'm here. I'm not gay, but I'd be happy to do things here and there to expand my choices," he said with a creepy smiled plastered on his face and the fact that he was a psycho shimmering in his pretty hazel eyes.

Raine shot a glance at Fel. “Don’t waste it. We don’t know when we’re getting more power to supply the amras…”
She turned then to Gerand as he threw a fit. “Hey, hey! Who says I chose you or want to be your partner either?!” She growled, her voice becoming angry. “You’re a jerk without emotional restraint when you need it most now! And if you don’t want to be part of the rebellion, then you shouldn’t have gotten involved. But I, on the other hand, am pushing for this rebellion.” Raine said, her voice lightening a bit as she swept across the floor, picturing the better world she had in mind after this rebellion was over and successful. Then she snapped out of it, looking pitifully at Gerand. “And you know that you could only go along with the government for so long before they started to ask too much of you. And then what would you do? What would happen then? How far would you let them push you?” Raine said, narrowing her eyes.
“But we don’t have time for this… You can complain about being my partner on your own time. And right now you’re on my time. And you are not going to be wasting my time.” Raine said, putting one of her hands on her hip, letting the arm holding the amra hang straight by her side.
