Ooc; I am slightly offended by Gerand forgetting about Raine being there. Lowl jk.
And ongz it’s the “official good-bye”. WOOWOOO READ AND FIND OUT MORE. ;]
IC: Through the day Raine dragged the group through the hallways of the base, doing random countless things, the first of them being introducing the boys (ooc; tee hee, “the boys”) to the showers.
Then it was night. Pitch black, welcomed night. Raine stood outside of the base, just there. She breathed in the cold air eagerly as if it was her only form of acceptable life suspension. Around an hour ago she had left the boys adrift, telling them to meet her here “when it was time”. So here she waited.
Her veins were full of electric blood, like her blood knew things Raine didn’t. Which, strangely, Raine didn’t doubt. Her blood had always seemed so strong, sometimes overly strong, as it raced and pounded through her veins. Raine had learned to bow down to its higher wisdom. As weird as that was. She couldn’t deny her blood, her being.
Back against the wall, hands clasped behind her back, Raine pressed against the wall. She rocked lightly from the fronts of her feet to the backs, not paying much attention to her surroundings. Which wasn’t too smart since the government had about five times as many police out as they had last night; word had gotten around of their defeat last night and, and they were naturally p*ssed. And everyone knew Raine had been there. They gave her all the credit for the unofficial victory too.
She closed her eyes, a faint smile on her face. She wasn’t worried about being attacked. She didn’t fear being out in the open and so alone. She had no reason.
There was a slight movement, quieter than the atmosphere. Raine heard it. She opened her eyes and spun to the sound.
And there before her was Belinda. Belinda. The word repeated itself in her head. Belinda. She… For a split second Raine considered using the word “never.” It was the only time it was actually true. Belinda never left the base. For the whole time Raine had been here she had not seen her outside even for a second. Not even to stand outside of the building, like she was as Raine saw her. Never was the only word that seemed faintly strong enough, and this was the only time she’d let herself think it.
“Are you nervous, dearest?” Belinda cooed, her voice attempting sweetness but Raine saw through it easily. “Well, I hope not. Failure is simply not an option this time. I hope you don’t screw up.”
Correction, Raine was mistaken. Once again, twice in the same heartbeat, Raine was using one of her disallowed word. But this time she was actually speaking it.
Raine’s face twisted into a hard, achieved smile. “I won’t. I never have before.” Her eyes narrowed at the word. Never. The word itself felt like a lie. What could really be never? But Raine knew. This was never. Her track record was never. She had never once harmed the Rebellion, only the government. She’d been all-good, right from the start. Instead of messing up, she persevered. And it had rewarded her; Raine was successful. Raine was actually offended at Belinda even assuming, even thinking that now would be different. But Raine’s wall was up and the offense bounced off it and flopped to the ground.
Belinda’s smiled faltered only slightly, her eyes full of mystery. “So you say.” She straightened up to her full height and Raine was once again reminded of how short she was, and how unnaturally tall Belinda was. “Anyway, I just came to bid you parting. It may be a very, very long time before I see you again, if you even survive the journey at all.” (ooc; Whoaaa, unintentional adding of the title. Yay Srrahh.)
One eyebrow of Raine’s lifted in question and her guard shot up. Since when did Belinda care for useless things such as “partings” and “goodbyes”? As long as Raine had known her she had not. Raine did not respond.
Her eyes still piercing Raine’s so fiercely, she spoke with a voice to match her intense eyes. “It would be charming if you would remember me, child, for I know I will not forget you, daughter of Sabella Rebelde and Layton Rebelde.” she turned her back to Raine and walked away, her footsteps as light as the ones that brought her to Raine.
Raine faced the brick wall in front of her again and slumped to the ground. Belinda’s words had set a bomb in her mind. She could feel it ticking.
And for the first time in years she felt like crying. And she didn’t know why.
Ooc; the paragraph about the blood is actually super important to Raine’s past…and present, and future. ;]
Heyhey, and random need to remind you: Raine’s last name (as is her parents) is Song. Raine Song. Sabella Rebelde Song. Layton Rebelde Song.
Extra special special ooc: WOO! This is the 100th post in the journey! Yay guys! WE rockkk!

Gerand followed Raine to the showers, and was relieved to find that they showers were separate stalls (OOC; I'm sure that's not the right word, but it's close enough). After showering he found clean clothes outside his shower, his own clothes. 'I don't want to know how these got here', he thought, but put them on anyway.
The clothes consisted of: Black socks, a light blue tee-shirt, and grey sweat pants. They were Gerand's normal working clothes. He had no idea how anyone knew this, or how his clothes got there, but he wasn't willing to go around naked, so he wore them.
For the rest of the day he spent his time getting familiar with the rebellion base, although he would be leaving it soon. He didn't mention the room to anyone. He chatted some with River, coming to know something about his soon to be traveling mate. He learned enough that Raine's emphasis on River's name wasn't accidental, but he didn't learn more than that.
Before he knew it the sky had begun to darken, and he made his way to his cubicle. He found a bag hung up on the door. There was a note on it. 'This should be helpful. ~B'.
'How nice. They provide luggage as well.' thought Gerand. He went inside, and found a whole bunch of had been placed in it. He picked up a belt that was on the bed, and put it on. It had two places for holsters. There were two holsters on the bed. He attached them to the belt, and found 4 amra's on the bed as well. He placed two in the holsters and two in the bag.
Inside the bag he found some things in silver cans. He had no idea what they were, but he presumed they were some kind of rations. They wouldn't be sent out without food, right?
That was everything. He scanned the room one last time, and didn't see anything else. He left the room, and walked to the entrance, slipping silently outside.
"Good evening." He wasn't silent enough. Outside the doorway was Belinda. "I see you received my gift."
"Yep." Gerand ignored the rules of respect he had been told. "I think it should be helpful."
"It should be. Enjoy your trip." She smiled, and moved into the base.
Something about her really scared him. He didn't like the way she said that last sentence. Instead of dwelling on it, he moved down the street to where he saw the outline of Raine in the streetlight.
"Good evening Raine. What's all this about?"

(ooc; the clunk clunk clunk is the elevator, not the ppl, lol)
The weary-faced woman offered again the small amra to River with an annoyed expression. He looked at the gun in revulsion then stared the woman down until she gave up, and threw the gun aside. “Ground floor,” she mumbled as she turned River around and gently pushed him into the elevator. The thick metal doors closed in front of him and concealed the last of the Rebellion from his eyes. The base was on the eighth floor, and the elevator was slow, and unstable. River sighed impatiently and closed his eyes. He still couldn’t believe it. He knew his parents had visions too- that was the reason for their arrest. But after all he went through in the prison; he’d figured that if he did have any power, it would surely be revealed then. Visions. The ability to see the possibilities of the future… the power, within itself, seemed overwhelming and empowering, and yet River feared it. Was it supposed to be that painful? While he was kneeling there on the ground, he honestly thought he was dying. Was there something in his body now, something from the prison injections, that is turning his body against him? What if the pain gets worse next time? What if he dies from it? He can’t control it- he can’t stop it- The elevator jerked unnaturally as it stopped at floor six. River opened his eyes waiting for the doors to open and reveal the reason for its looming pause. The doors shifted open and a young couple stumbled in. The two held each other tightly in a close embrace and seemed not to notice River was even there as they staggered in and continued making out in the corner. River raised an eyebrow at the two of them then leaned forward and pushed the button. The elevator trudge on… and so did the couple. (ooc; lmao) Floor four. Clunk, clunk, clunk. The two people kissed passionately, still oblivious to the fact that they were sharing an elevator. River could have puked. He rolled his eyes and stared at the elevator numbers, wondering if the two people would ever come up for air. Floor two. Floor one. The elevator jerked harshly again and the doors slid open. River strode quickly out as the couple blindly carried on. River’s footsteps echoed loudly as he crossed the empty lobby. Reaching the door, he opened it to find Raine slumped down against the building and Gerand standing idle beside her. “Tired already,” He scoffed crossly, staring at them.

Raine opened her eyes, two people talking to her at once. She turned to River, needing to address his insult before she could focus clearly. “Tired? Of waiting for you two, yes.” Raine said, sending an icy glare at each of them from the ground. Then she stood up and stretched her arms up in the air. Her shirt raised a little, its blackness matching the night. Raine was wearing a set of clothes exactly identical to the ones she had been wearing the other night, black skinny-legged jeans and a black tank top. It was how she liked to and had to dress, so she dressed that way every day.
As Raine stretched she turned her glare from River to look at Gerand. She gave him a weak crooked smile, the best she could muster, just to show that she was trying to be at least civil to him. Raine wasn’t a people person; she preferred to work alone. But, with Gerand at least, she would try. For the moment. Somewhat. Maybe. She’d wait to see how long that would last, most likely until Gerand did something to piss her off. It would be very short lived.
“Alright…” She mumbled, trying to gather her thoughts. “We’re… leaving.” She shook her head, that thought rattling her brain. She leaned in and lowered her voice. Her bossy, take-charge nature started to slip into gear. “Okay- we have to get to the city limits. But we have to be careful, more careful then usual. There’s manymany more of those robot police dudes out there because of our little fiasco last night.” She glared at River, in her mind putting the blame on him. She paused, straightening up. What now? Raine wasn’t used to telling other people what she was going to do and then having them try and do the same… She shook her head. “Eh, just follow me as closely as you can. If I stop it’s for a reason.” Then she put her hand on her hip and looked away for a second. “I’ll have to take the long way to get us all there…” She mumbled to herself, accounting the other twos not-so-small build and their inability to fit through the same things she could. This was beginning to become a hazard.
Raine shrugged. “So let’s go.” She turned and glanced at her companions for a second. She eyed River’s nasty gun with distaste. “You… don’t shoot your gun. Ever. Actually, no one shoots his or her weapon except for me. Especially you.” Raine sneered, still eyeing ‘River.’ “ Clear? Okay.” Then she started walking, her knees slightly bent in a slinking manner.
As they got to the end of that alley- the one the base was located in, she fastened herself to the wall, inching along it. Her eyes desperately wanted to look back at the base and get one final glance, but her unwillingness to make memories bit back… and so she didn’t. She increased her pace to an unrealistically fast creep along the wall, not looking back to see if the others were behind her still. She had trust that they were.
The city lights began to fade as they stealthily made their ways out of its heart. Then the lights faded almost all together and all that they could see was open field before them. They were almost officially out of the city. One short sprint… But Raine clung to the building and its shadows, remembering what Belinda had told her to do here. Her eyes scanned the wall for a door… Locating it, she turned to the boys (ooc; MY GOSSH I LOVE CALLING THEM THAT) and mouthed, “Stay here” as harshly as she could to illustrate her seriousness. She felt that her eyes implied most of the meaning and message. Then she spun and ran to the door, opening it and disappearing inside for a minute.
Inside everything was black. Black black black. It was so black it was like breathing in deep, heavy pollution. Raine felt as if every time she breathed she breathed in weights, vastness, bulking down her lungs. She resisted the urge to cough but swallowed instead to make her voice strong. “Come forth, come forth from the shadows and fight, soldier.” She recited the lines that would tell her if anyone was with her in the hugeness, and if they were on her side or not.
“I will not fight, but instead let me free.” Came the reply she’d been expecting. Raine dropped her sneak slightly and made her way back to the door and stepped out again. Then she waited for someone else to appear.
(ooc; Julieann, I know you said you wanted someone else to be there or something…this guy/girl can be your person if you want. Sorry if I messed things up for you already. I only made her/him say one thinggggg- the programmed thing that s/he had to say or otherwise Raine would have shot him. I didn’t even describe the person for youuu! Well theres you go.
BTW; don’t make this person leave yet/after your post. I want them to say one specific thing… so yeah.

Raine eyed him strangely for a moment before saying, “You… don’t shoot your gun. Ever.” River’s eyebrows skyrocketed as the green of his eyes churned into swirling rage. She’s gonna have a long trip if she thinks she can control what I do, He snarled in his mind. And with that thought he ripped out his gun, silencer already locked on, and fired it at the sky. Raine stared at him, and he smiled back, defiance in his blood.
The city flashed by as they ran: In and out of buildings, over and under, in the dark and around the dark. She led them everywhere and anywhere, but River, annoyed, decided to lay back and let her chart it out herself- why should he tell her there was a faster way? It’s not like she wanted his help. And so, sneering in his mind, he followed obediently behind them.
The chill of the night greeted his warm lungs, coating them in its chill. The freezing temperature made him come alive, like it was waking him from a long, imprisoned slumber; this dark that was his light, awoke him. And then as they were crossing the top of a short building, he saw it. It made him stop dead in his tracks, nearly losing his balance, as the fire in his eyes froze like ice, pausing the motion all around him. He walked over to the edge of the building and looked at it. Down below him, across the street, hung the bulletin board on the side of a building that had snatched his attention. He looked at it coldly, hate and, at the same time, panic rising inside him. The poster was a picture of himself; his own face dully illuminated in the dark. ‘ REWARD, ALIVE ’ the sign read below his picture. A twisted sense of pride formed in his stomach; he had done it, he had escaped … alive. But that pride vanished quickly, as the savage memories flooded back into him of the ones who weren’t so lucky. Guilt overcame him and his throat tightened. River glanced around, and then without another thought or care, took out his gun, aimed, and blasted the poster from the bulletin board- blasted the past from the present.
An hour or so later, Raine led the two men (ooc; mhahah, men, yes ) to the very borders of the city. Two steps in the right direction and they would find themselves immersed in the dense wilderness. Raine stopped in front of a small, brown building, opened the door, and disappeared inside, letting the door shut behind her with a thwoom. River crossed his arms and mumbled angrily to himself, then turned to Gerand, “Do you ever get tired of following her?” He asked sulkily. After a few seconds Raine reappeared through the door, holding it for them. River stepped inside the dark room and heard the door shut loudly behind him.
“Wow. I didn’t think there would be three of you.” The voice came through the dark, slightly Hispanic and fully female.
For River, night being his day, his eyes had already adjusted and he could see her slim figure, standing a few feet in front of him. A second later the lights flickered on. They were in a very small storage building, the grey wallpaper peeling with a singular dim lamp sitting on a table that was positioned in the middle of the room. The woman that had spoken before put a finger to her mouth and muttered aloud, “I bet there’s a third pack in here somewhere,” And then turned and began looking through boxes on the floor. Her skin tone was a darker tan, her hair brown and put up carelessly in a messy bun. She looked quite young, and dressed to fit her personality; she wore a tight red top, eccentric jewelry, faded blue jeans, and a ripped black mini-skirt. River watched her as she fumbled, bending over.
“Ah, here we go,” She said as she pulled a heavy backpack from a box and placed it loudly on the table, where two others lay beside it. Satisfied, she placed both hands on her hips and smiled at them. “Raine Song,” She said first, looking to her, “A pleasure,” she nodded politely, and then looked at Gerand, “Gerand Hallow,” She smiled, interest glittering in her eyes, “Welcome to the Rebellion,” Her smile overwhelming, she then turned to River, her eyes scanning him from head to toe, prying into his expression, trying to look into his eyes, hidden behind his hair. “She did not mention you,” (ooc; I imagined by ‘she’ she meant Belinda, like she called and told her gerand and raine were coming, B just didn’t mention riv) She said quietly as she reached out a hand towards his hair. River caught her wrist and pushed it aside. She raised her eyebrows then stated, “I can’t see your eyes.” River felt his temper rising quickly, anger spitting from his thoughts. He didn’t have the patience to tell her that that was the exact reason why he preferred his hair in his face. “No, you can’t,” He said, his voice close to a growl and his eyebrows narrowed. The woman crossed her arms and turned away from him, “I see your gonna have fun with this one,” She said sarcastically to Gerand and Raine. “I’m Aninova. Nova, for short,” she introduced herself cheerfully. Smiling as though she knew a big important secret, she made her way back to the table in the middle of the room. She took out a large roll of paper from her pocket, unrolled it, and spread it out on the table. Then she held out her hand to Raine saying, “Let me show you this,” before turning to the two men and asking them to gather the packs and bring them outside. River sulkily lifted two of the packs from the table and stalked outside.
River dropped the bags noisily and turned to Gerand. “I wouldn’t believe anyone would be want to be ‘welcomed to the Rebellion’,” He looked at him, a livid look on his face, “The sooner I get out of this hell the better,” But as River said this he looked out into the thousands of miles of forest that lay before him: offering him an escape. This chance to go, leave this weary city behind. How he tired of hiding, holding his face down and wondering if the last guy he passed on the street recognized him. The woods welcomed him; the wind surrounding him, gently kissing his face. He took in a deep cold, breath and although he was thinking it, River did not mention to Gerand how he suddenly felt content about being released… from everything.

Raine found herself standing idly in the corner not paying much attention to anything until her name was said. Then she kept her eyes on the girl called Nova, watching her path around the room. She did not smile or show it, but she really did appreciate being called by her name- her simple name without the “master” attached to the front of it. Raine eyed the girl’s outfit, finding it hardly suitable for the job she was carrying out, and Raine watched how she walked. It was hard to miss. She wasn’t exactly graceful, or organized; she was very open and unguarded and had no quality that would suggest her worthy of the Rebellion besides her boldness. Raine couldn’t help but admire her boldness. But as Raine looked closer, she saw it could be something besides boldness… maybe… interest. An interest in River. She stifled a laugh. What a waste of time.
As they all stepped outside Raine’s senses were re-awakened by the sudden sharp coldness. Nova stood in front of her, one of the packs in her hand as the boys wandered off a few feet. “See, there’s everything you’ll possibly need in here.” She then went on to list the things that were in the pack. She crouched down on the ground to pull a number of the things out. Raine only half listened- she wanted to ditch the packs almost as soon as possible. They were too big and too heavy and pointless. Raine would take what she needed and then throw them off a cliff somewhere.
Raine tuned back in when she heard a pause in the conversation. She quickly realized that Nova was waiting for an answer. “Eh…what?” Raine asked, blinking. Nova motioned for her to crouch down too. Raine did, mystified.
Nova repeated herself, her words spoken in deliberately hushed tones so that Gerand and River wouldn’t hear her. “You got a hold on one of them?” She asked, her head slightly inclined in the direction of the two guys, desire sparkling in her casual smile.
That made everything even less understandable, like throwing a blanket over the sun. “A hold on what?”
Nova rolled her eyes. “You know, one of those guys. Are you…” Nova hesitated, sensing correctly that she’d have to put in blatant, formal terms for Raine to understand, “emotionally or physically involved with one of those two?”
Raine understood now, though she wished she were still in the dark. She opened her mouth to inquire how one could be so “f*cking stupid” but held her tongue. Raine took a second and chewed on her thoughts, trying to quell the angry remarks. Quell them she did, for the next time she opened her mouth fits of laughter erupted. Raine was surprised at the sound; she’d heard it so few times in her life. She stood up, her eyes still on Nova. Then she started laughing again, the amusement making her voice sound lighter and more pleasant. Her laughter rang like a bell. Raine shook her head, giving up on all speech and turning away. She giggled some more as she walked past Gerand and River to stand far away from them and stare off into the distance, hoping desperately that isolation would suffocate her laughter; Raine was finding it embarrassing.

Gerand listened to Raine and River fight(ooc:raine and river, they make me have to pee) over the gun, and was amazed at River audacity to pull out his gun and fire it. He sighed. If River and Raine were going to go at each other's throats the whole time it was going to be a LONG trip. He followed Raine throughout the city, although he knew there was a shorter way across town. Finally they came to warehouse right on the edge of the city. A perfect place for a rebellion storehouse. Raine mouthed at them to stay put, and she found her way inside the building. Gerand sighed, and breathed in the cool evening air.
“Do you ever get tired of following her?”
The question came from River, directed at him. He took a moment before answering. "Yes, it is tiring, but without her we'd most likely be shot on site. I'm fine with just following." It wasn't that he was for saving his own hide, but a dead Gerand was most definitely less useful then an alive Gerand.
He leaned back against the building, closed his eyes, and just breathed. He felt alive, like a rat in a cage, alive but trapped. At least he was in good company, if you belived what some people said. Opening his eyes again he looked at River, and his brain started moving, sizing up River, taking all it could, analyzing him for information he could use. (OOC: Here is supposidly where the motherf***ing part will come from. We can hope.) River was tall, which was a difference from Raine, but he guessed they were about the same in strength. He had not felt what Raine or River could do on the physical fighting size, but he didn't want to know. He had longer hair for a male, 3 or 4 inches. Gerand saw that it could give them away in a camo situation, but he wasn't about to cut it off. He also had several gashes and bruises on his body. River was no stranger to fighting, but he didn't seem to be the most physical fighter. He most likely relied heavily on his gun, which Gerand noticed was a very unique weapon that he had never seen before. Gerand hadn't been able to see River in action, but he had a pretty big idea that he was going to, probably multiple times before this journey was over.
The door reopened, and Raine motioned for them to come in. Inside the lights flickered on as Gerand followed River inside. It was your normal warehouse, but the caretaker was far from normal. She seemed to have taken jewelry at random and put it on. It seemed much more sparkly then Gerand ever imagined anyone having on. (OOC: not english sentence there, you know what i mean). She was suprised at there being three of them, and had to find another backpack. She went to Raine, handed her one, and moved to Gerand.
“Gerand Hallow,” She smiled, interest glittering in her eyes, “Welcome to the Rebellion."
He smiled, but didn't say anything. It's not that he didn't think he was fine with being in the rebellion, he just had no idea what to say.
She moved on down to River where, as usual, River had something to gripe about. Gerand ignored him, and looked through the contents of the pack. Hard rations, a few amra's, and rope.
"I see you're gonna have fun with this one." Nova's sarcastic comment brought his attention back to her. 'River, what have you done this time?' he wondered to himself. Nova then took Raine aside, and River came over to Gerand, dropping his bags.
“I wouldn’t believe anyone would be want to be ‘welcomed to the Rebellion’. The sooner I get out of this hell the better.”
It was meant as a lie, but as Gerand looked at River watching the forest he couldn't help but think that there was some truth there. He looked back at where Raine and Nova were talking. Nova seemed to be hinting at something through her body motions...something that didn't seem to have anything to do with the map. He couldn't make out her mouth very well, but he thought he saw something like this: "You...hold on....them.[PAUSE]...know...guys...are you..."
He looked away, knowing what Nova was asking. He didn't need to see Raine's response, not that he could because her back was turned. However instead of missing Raine's response he heard it all to clearly. No f***'s, crazies, or even words. It was laughter. He turned back to see Raine stand up laughing. To Gerand's ears, used to fighting, screaming, and crying, it was the most beautiful sound he had heard in a long time. As she walked away from them he respected her isolation, and stored Nova's question in his mind. It would never leave now.
He was left alone in the doorway of the warehouse. Without a word he shouldered his backpack, shrugged at Nova, turned, and walked out into the night air. He breathed deeply, breathed in the cool air, the freedom, and the slight scents of the city. He couldn't help but giggle slightly. He was where he belonged, with friends, in the rebellion, and he was away from it all. He wanted to shout some profanity at the government, but decided that wouldn't be wise.
After a second he regained his senses, regained control over his giggles (OOC:giggles) and walked over Raine. "Alright ms. map," he said. "You ready to leave?" He was ready for the adventure, excitement, and crazy stuff that he knew always followed.
What he wasn't ready for was the bad stuff, and none of them knew what was coming...
[THE END OF THE BRIEFING]
